Hotthat Jholok

"Hotthat Jholok" (roughly, Sudden Flash) was a music group, born out of a sudden ("hotthat") urge to present a musical show at our local pujo pandal. Probably it was in the late 80s or very early 90s. We knew  it wont last long, hence the name, but we performed for almost 10 years on the trot, atleast once a year. A group of friends from the same housing complex we grew up in, led by the inimitable and immensely talented Pramit (Gappa), whose claim to fame, apart from music, was being the only man I know who can clap with onehand -- no seriously, he can!

Even now, when only a handful of us land up in Kolkata during puja-s, we try to put together atleast a song or two during the late night adda sessions in the Puja Mondop, in memory of our lost music group.

Huge nostalgia and memories came flooding back when Joy, the undisputed no 2 in the group then after Gappa (and someone who has, since, scaled many a heights with his musical talent) put up a bunch of rehearsal recordings in his website here:

Thanks Joy for bringing back the lost days once more!
